Stewart-Haas Racing drivers Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman have exceeded preseason expectations. Michael Waltrip Racing driver David Reutimann is having a career season, as he recently rode to victory at Lowe's Motor Speedway. There is little separating him from the top twelve.

    Although a part-time driver in the Sprint Cup, Brad Keselowski acheived a first-time win in 2009. He also won at Talladega driving for James Finch's independent racing team, Phoenix Racing.

    Other pleasant performances include former open-wheel icons Juan Pablo Montoya and Sam Hornish Jr, both showing perceptible improvement since the 2008 season.

    Now, there have also been disappointments in NASCAR, both with drivers and teams that have had less than stellar records.

    Popular driver Dale Earnhardt Jr takes the first position on the list of disappointments for 2009. When Earnhardt Jr joined Hendrick Motorsports in 2008, he was, by far, the best race car driver out of the team's four drivers. As the season got moving full speed, other teams began to close the gap until Earnhardt was lagging behind his competitors. Neither he nor Tony Eury Jr have managed to recapture the top-rated performance of the early months of the 2008 race season. In fact, Rick Hendrick replaced Tony Eury Jr with Lance McGrew. For the time being, McGrew will be Earnhardt's interim crew chief.

    Earnhardt Jr carries a huge burden on his shoulder when he is performing well; but when he struggles, the burden seems impossible for him to bear. NASCAR's top driver is in a race to improve his performance to avoid continued negative press.

    Driver Kevin Harvick qualified for the popular Chase for the Championship every season from the years 2006 through 2008 and won six races within the same timeframe. However, Harvick is now in the midst of his worst season since he went through a bad driving period in 2002. It seems as if a fourth consecutive Chase for the Championship appearance is a long-shot for Harvick, who has not won a race since the 2007 Daytona 500.

    Harvick is not the only driver from his stables mired in bad driving streaks. Fellow members of the Richard Childress Racing team have not fared very well over the last year, especially Clint Bowyer. While Bowyer did manage a fantastic start to the 2009 season, he has finished below the top ten on the previous seven races before the Pocono 500. Jeff Burton is consistent as usual, but it is obvious that the performance is off with that team . Driver Casey Mears has managed to get two top ten completions in the last four races despite his crawling start at open of the season.

    Roush Fenway Racing driver David Ragan ranks high as another big disappointment, rivaling even Earnhardt Jr and Harvick. The NASCAR news circuit continues with bad reports. While Ragan showed remarkable improvement during the 2008 season, this season has witnessed his return to mediocrity. After a thirteenth place finish in the championships for 2008, the buzz among NASCAR news analysts suggested that Ragan would be one of possibly twelve drivers competing for the Spring Cup. The unfortunate part is that Ragan has only managed to finish one race out of thirteen in the top ten. There must be some problem with the team.

    Ragan's teammate Carl Edwards achieved victory in the Sprint Cup series, with nine races in 2008. Now, with thirteen races finished, Edwards has not won another race. Even though he is among the top twelve in the championship standings, we all expected more out of Edwards and the No. 99 group.

    Popular driver Dale Earnhardt Jr nabs the first position on the list of disappointments for 2009. Back in 2008, when Earnhardt Jr became a member of Hendrick Motorsports, he was without a doubt as the best of the four-car team. Unfortunately, as the season got underway, competing teams gained in ranking, and Earnhardt Jr started to fall behind. Neither he nor Tony Eury Jr have managed to recapture the top-rated performance of the early months of the 2008 race season. In fact, Rick Hendrick replaced Tony Eury Jr with Lance McGrew. For the time being, McGrew will be Earnhardt's temporary crew chief.

    Despite his efforts, Earnhardt Jr has struggled to carry his burden; in the midst of his weak performance, this burden seems like too much to handle. NASCAR's most popular driver must improve quickly in order to cut down all of the negative press.

    Kevin Harvick met qualification for the Chase for the Championship in every season from 2006 to 2008 and won six races in that span. Nevertheless, he finds himself in the middle of his least productive season since his second-year slump in 2002. It seems as if a fourth consecutive Chase for the Championship appearance is a long-shot for Harvick, who has not won a race since the 2007 Daytona 500.

    Harvick is not the only racer from his racing team that is drowning weaker track performance. Fellow members of the Richard Childress Racing team have not fared much better over the last year, especially Clint Bowyer. While Bowyer did make a fantastic start to the 2009 season, he has finished below the top ten on the previous seven races prior the Pocono 500. Jeff Burton is consistent as usual, but it is obvious that the performance is off with that team . Casey Mears had a poor opening to the racing season, but he's obtained two top ten finishes in the last four races.

    Roush Fenway Racing driver David Ragan ranks high as another big disappointment, rivaling even Earnhardt Jr and Harvick. The NASCAR news circuit continues with negative reports. It was suggested that Ragan was the most improved driver of 2008, but he has since become a diminished racer. After finishing thirteenth in the championship standings in 2008, many NASCAR news groups and analysts suggested that Ragan would be one of the twelve drivers vying for the Sprint Cup championship. The unfortunate part is that Ragan has only complete one race out of thirteen in the top ten. It brings the status of the team into question.

    Ragan's teammate Carl Edwards won a Sprint Cup series-high nine races back in 2008. After thirteen races, Edwards has yet to perform his race-winning celebratory back flip. Still, with Edwards ranked in the top twelve in the championship standings, his record has been a bit of let down, as it has been for other members of the No. 99 group.

Michael Waltrip Racing driver David Reutimann is having a defining season, as he recently rode to victory at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Reutimann is very close to reaching top twelve status.

    Although a part-time driver in the Sprint Cup, Brad Keselowski acheived a first-time win in 2009. He also won at Talladega as a driver for James Finch's independent racing team, Phoenix Racing.

    Other pleasant surprises include former open-wheel icons Juan Pablo Montoya and Sam Hornish Jr, both showing definite improvement since the 2008 season.

    Now, there have also been disappointments in NASCAR, both with drivers and teams that have had less than stellar records.

    Driver Kevin Harvick qualified for the coveted Chase for the Championship every season from the years 2006 through 2008 and won six races within the same timeframe. However, Harvick is now in the midst of his worst season since he went through a bad driving period in 2002. At this point, Harvick, who hasn't had a win since the 2007 Daytona 500, has little chance of garnering a fourth appearance in the Chase for the Championship.

    Harvick is not the only driver from his stable that is failing to hold up to earlier expectations. The other drivers that constitute the Richard Childress Racing team have all underperformed during the last year, particularly Clint Bowyer. Despite a great start to the 2009 season, Bowyer has not managed to crack the top ten in the seven races leading up to the Pocono 500. Even with Jeff Burton's consistent record, the overall performance of the team is below average . Driver Casey Mears has managed to get two top ten completions in the last four races despite his slow start at open of the season.

    Rivaling Earnhardt Jr and Harvick as the biggest disappointments include Roush Fenway Racing driver David Ragan. This marks another series of pockmarks reported by NASCAR news sources. Ragan was possibly the most improved driver in 2008, but he has fallen back into mediocrity. After finishing in thirteenth place in the championships for 2008, the buzz among NASCAR news analysts held that Ragan would be one of possibly twelve drivers competing for the Spring Cup. The problem with this is that Ragan has scored just one top ten finish in the first thirteen races. It brings the status of the team into doubt.

    Your Job is Done
    Beyond this, what more can you do? You tried to contact, you made yourself available should the need arise, you left contact information, and you were cordial. But the point is that many service professionals waste this opportunity. They hang up and move onto the next client. Yet if you take 30 seconds to leave an informative message about who you are and why they should care, you can never predict the amount of positive outcome from this little act.
