Performance and training are most important, if you really want to make it to the NFL. Even with that, it is a crap shoot. The fact is, only about 5% of college athletes actually go on to the NFL. Of those, only about 2% were college football players. The NFL uses more athletes than professional basketball or baseball, so your chances are somewhat better in the football world. Nobody makes it to the professional level by chance. You have to have some major level of skill and be able to work hard to maintain that level. You don't have to be a college football player to get to the professional level, although that is the most likely route. You could try to make it in as a walk on, but it is really unlikely to get in using that route. Some years are easier. They need more players as injuries take out other players. You need to be seen by a scout while playing for a 1-A division football team. You need to make every game count! Put your heart into the game each and every time and think about the fact that someone very important could be watching you. Another way to get added exposure is to attend a a college football camp. These are open to the general population and are sponsered by various college football club's across the country, and overseen by the Head Coach. One of the greatest camps is at Florida State University and it is held annually. It is an amazing chance to be seen by the head coach and to learn some great skills and techniques during your time spent there. Most camps are a week long and will cost at least a couple hundred dollars. You can stay on the campus if neccessary, for an additional fee. It could make a big difference in your journey to get into the NFL.
