What is the Chance You, the College Football Player, Can make it to the NFL?

Performance and training are key, if you really desire to make it to the Big time. Even then, it is a crap shoot. The truth is, only about 5% of college athletes actually go on to the professional level. Of those, only about 2% were college football players. The NFL uses more players than professional basketball or baseball, so your chances are a little better in the football world. There isn't anybody who gets to the professional level by chance. You have to have some major level of skill and not be afraid to work hard to maintain that level. You don't have to play college football to make it to the professional level, although that is the most likely way to go. You could try to make it in as a walk on, but it is very unlikely to get in using that route. Some years are easier. They need extra players as injuries take over. Your best bet is to be observed by a scout while playing for a 1-A division team. You need to make every game count! Put your heart into the game each and every time and think about the fact that a scout could be watching you. Another way to get added exposure is to go to a college football camp. These are available to the public and are sponsered by many college football club's around the country, and overseen by the Head Coach. One of the greatest camps is at FSU and it is held annually. It is an awesome opportunity to be observed by the University coach and to pick up some great skills and techniques while you are there. Most camps are a week long and will run at least a couple hundred dollars. You can stay on the grounds of the campus if neccessary, for an additional cost. It could make a huge difference in your qwest to get into the professional level.
