How to Get Birth Control Products

A lot of accidental pregnancies have been blamed on an inability to buy contraceptive products. Most cases of unwanted pregnancies have been in teenagers aged 13 to 18 years old who do not have access to prescription and over-the-counter birth control products. If they can't use the necessary protection during a time where they are at their most adventurous, how can we be assured that they will not get pregnant?

The best way to go about this is to start educating them about the different birth control means. It may be awkward for parents to discuss these things with their teenagers, but it is important that they go out to the world equipped with the necessary information they need to protect themselves. Schools also don't think that a more comprehensive sex education class should be included into the education system because conservative educators think that integrating sex education into the curriculum only triggers more sexual curiosity in teenagers. But isn't it the school's role to help teenagers learn the important things they need to know about life?

Giving sex education talks to teenagers need not be difficult. It doesn't have to go into much specifics. Parents and school educators just need to explain what a child needs to know about protecting themselves against pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Simple birth control methods that can be easily discussed to teenagers may include:

1. Abstinence
Abstinence can be very difficult to observe, especially now that we live in a more sexually liberated age. However, it is most preferred by the church. Religious organizations are all for promoting abstinence as the only means of birth control. This method requires averting from any sexual activity. This proves to be the most effective birth control method.

2. Withdrawal method
This method, as the name implies, requires a man to withdraw his penis from inside the vagina before he ejaculates. Simply put, this method is done by climaxing outside of the partner's vagina to avoid releasing sperm cells inside her partner. It can be very dangerous though because it takes a lot of self-control to pull out just when it is getting good.

3. Latex condoms
Condoms are pretty much easy to use and explain. It works by serving as a collection container for ejaculated semen. Putting it on is simple enough – just put it on top of the erected penis and roll it towards the base of the shaft. It is disposed every after intercourse for sanitary and safety purposes.

4. Fertility awareness method
This is a method that requires observing and charting a lady's menstrual cycle to distinguish her date of ovulation, and thereby knowing when a lady's “safe” days are. Some methods require counting back 14 days from the first day of menstruation, some require checking the consistency of cervical mucus, and some by checking their body temperature first thing in the morning.

Keep in mind that the longer we keep a closed mind about discussing the topic of sex to our teenagers, we leave them exposed to risks of accidentally conceiving or acquiring sexually transmitted diseases. Think about it, who better to give them advice about how to protect themselves but you – their parents and educators.
