How to Dress, Starting with Cowboy Boots

Now, there are any number of people out there who are just waiting, no, dying, to have a chance to let their fashion advice be known. It is their supreme birthright, they assume, to gift others with the fashion sense they innately possess. This is actually a lot of nonsense. The issue, of course, with such fashion advice, is that it changes. Each season, it changes. Different colors, different cuts, different fabrics, there just isn't consistency. Heck, even the parts of the body that are being played up change. Those who are invested in making sure that they keep up with the fashions are expending a great deal of money on clothing they can only, in good fashion sense, wear for a season.

However, there exist the "classic pieces," those that seem to transcend the fashion limitations set by these changes. Among the classic pieces that have stood the test of time, you will find that many of these have elements reminiscent of western wear. In fact, one item that has remained fashionable since the day they were first created is cowboy boots. Most people who wear cowboy boots will tell of you of the first pair they ever wore with a certain sparkle in their eye. Western wear captures our imagination, as the "wild, wild west" is one of the only distinctly American legends that remains today.

So, why is western wear so enduring when other fashion trends last but a blink of an eye? Well, for one, western apparel is actually functional. It isn't all trend-focused. In fact, it is, for the most part, function-focused. You will notice, in western wear, that most adornment comes in the form of stitching. On boots, shirts, skirts and more you'll find that intricate patterns or colorful stitched designs are quite common. The style of stitching is often what distinguishes one maker from another. Western wear aficionados can often tell who made a pair of cowboy boots just by the signature stitching!

Stitching translates well in terms of fashion and function as it does very little to alter the construction of the garment itself. It can also turn a garment from a work-all-day shirt into a shirt that you might wear out to eat or to a good old country barn dance. All in all, western wear has a lot of great qualities, the least of which is that you won't have to give it all away next season because of the new fashion trends that have been set.
